If you’ve ever started and stopped a diet without getting the results you want, you’re not alone. Data from the National Diet and Nutrition Survey estimates that only 1 out of 5 dieters make it to the three-month mark or longer. About 40% of dieters quit within the first month. Why? The results aren’t worth the effort.
There is good news. You don’t have to be stuck on a diet with little results. Sometimes, you just need the right information to help shape your weight loss plan, and metabolic testing can give your weight loss journey a launch in the right direction.
Because metabolic testing is pivotal to successful weight loss, our team of providers at Dr. Rogers Centers are happy to perform metabolic testing as part of our weight loss services, so you can gain valuable insights you need to crush your goals.
What is metabolic testing?
Metabolic testing refers to multiple tests that evaluate how your body burns calories and uses oxygen. The three most common tests are:
- VO2 max test: This test measures your metabolic rate during exercise. The VO2 max test delivers data about your body’s use of oxygen during various levels of intensity. In other words, you can find out what level of intensity your body burns fat and uses up oxygen the best.
- Resting metabolic rate test: This is one of the most common tests, and it tells you how many calories your body burns when you’re completely at rest.
Once you have completed your metabolic testing, one of our providers will use the data to create a custom weight loss plan.
What do your results tell you?
Results from your metabolic testing help set you on the right path for weight loss success. For example, the resting metabolic rate shows you how many calories your body burns at rest. This is helpful when determining how many calories you should eat in order to lose weight.
In regards to your VO2 max test, this test highlights your fitness level, which is essential when creating a fitness or exercise plan. The test will help define your exercise intensity so you are not overtraining for weight loss.
