Dr. Rogers Centers strives to offer all of our patients the latest technology to provide optimal care. We are excited to be utilizing the Endosee® Office Hysteroscopy, a game-changing device that lets gynecologists like Dr. Wendy Askew see the inside of your uterus quickly and easily, without the need for anesthesia or an operating room! Read more about this technology below.
What is the Endosee®?
Endosee helps find the cause of several common issues women face such as abnormal bleeding. It is a handheld device that is used in-office, as opposed to a surgical setting under anesthesia. Traditional methods of diagnosing issues like abnormal bleeding include blind biopsy, which can be missed in up to 18% of women. (Goldstein S, Zeltser I, Horan C, et al. Am J Obstet Gynecol. 1997; 177:102-108.)
What can I expect during procedure?
Your doctor will first describe the process with you and check your vitals, such as blood pressure. Then, you’ll lie back in the stirrups, similar to your annual exam. The doctor will then prepare the cervix and insert a small tube with a camera into the uterus. If necessary, a small biopsy may also be taken during this time. The entire procedure takes about 10 minutes and is relatively comfortable. It is important to let your doctor know how you feel throughout the procedure.
What can I expect after the procedure?
Unlike other methods of diagnosing, Endosee delivers fast results. Before you leave the office, you will be given a treatment plan or be recommended for another procedure, if necessary. There is no downtime with the Endosee procedure.
Are there any side effects?
Endosee is safe and minimally invasive. Some women experience spotting, menstrual-like cramps, or stomach discomfort. Talk to your doctor about potential side effects, pain relievers, and what kind of results to expect.
