What is Platelet-Rich Plasma?
Although blood is primarily a liquid (plasma), it also contains other components, including platelets. Within platelets are growth factors that may initiate tissue repair. Growth factors derived from platelets have also been shown to be responsible for bone regeneration, development of new blood vessels and stimulation of the wound healing process. The concentrated platelets in PRP may help optimize the conditions for healing.
When will I see results?
After the treatment, patients often notice fine lines and wrinkles have softened and deeper wrinkled areas such as nasolabial folds, may look more plump and smoother. However, according to studies, the main goal of a PRP treatment is to stimulate fibroblast and develop long-term collagen formations in the dermis. Any plumping in the treated areas with PRP may slowly be absorbed into the dermis creating a platform for stronger skin and a more healthy appearance.
Overall, results are gradual and will vary from person to person based on health, age and genetic makeup. Most patients enjoy quantifiable improvements in skin complexion, texture and tone usually within three weeks. Subtle improvements can progressively continue for up to a year.
What areas can be treated with PRP?
PRP is derived from your own biological make-up and does not contain synthetic products, therefore, virtually any area of the body can be treated such as: face, neck, chest, hands, scars, etc.
